FOOTBALL

HEAD VARSITY COACH
MIKE DIMINO

On behalf of the Del Campo HS Football Program, I am very pleased to see the Jr Cougars move to the USA Youth Football League appears to have been a successful one.   As I mentioned last year, I had the honor of being the California "delegate," representing the high school coaches of California at a NFL-USA Football Coaching Symposium in Canton, Ohio.  I am happy to see in our 1st season with USA Youth League our enrollment has increased and both football and cheer competed at a high level.  As some probably remember, our past league did not officially allow for football or cheer participation for the Jr Cougars in the event the kids lived outside of the Del Campo HS boundaries.  The USA League is aligned with the District policy of open enrollment and the fact approximately 70% of our current students at Del Campo HS come from outside of the school's boundaries.  As importantly, the emphasis USA Football places on football fundamentals, technique, safety, and sportsmanship is the same emphasis we place in our high school program.  I believe this philosophy has paved the way to our 8 straight playoffs appearances and 2 section titles.

As many know, Del Campo HS hosted its first NFL-USA Youth Football Camp In June 2011.  The USA Football Camp included offensive and defensive instruction on the field and in the classroom.  Approximately 135 players from 8 to 14 years old were in shoulder pads and helmets for 3 days.  This year the NFL-USA Football Camp will be held at Del Campo HS again on 6/26- 6/28/12.  Last year's camp was the largest in California and this year we are expecting close to 200 players.   Sign-up early and reserve your spot.  Your son will have a tremendous advantage coming into this season with this camp experience.

Lastly, I again would like to thank parents, board members, and coaches for all of what you do. There would be no Jr Cougars without you. Since the Dolphins jumped ship and came over to Del Campo HS in 2004, it has always been a strong partnership. I know for fact the stronger our Jr Cougars football and cheer are now, the stronger the Del Campo High School Football and Cheer will be in the future.

Go Cougars

     ATHLETIC   DIRECTOR
GARY DiFABIO

Welcome to yet another exciting year of Del Campo Jr. Cougar Football.  As many of you know last year the Board of Directors made the decision to change leagues from a “high school boundary” league to and “open enrollment” league.   In our previous league we were only able to allow players from the DCHS boundary map. DCHS is 70+% open enrollment and clearly you can see how this could affect our players and ultimately our competitive edge. In addition all of our bordering schools now have a program that competes with us for players. With the new league, we are able to sign up players from anywhere in our area as long as their intention is to go to school at DCHS.  In the past 10 years only Grant High School has more wins at the high school level than Del Campo in the greater Sacramento area.   This gives our program the competitive edge to complete with any program. Our league is called the Sierra Valley USA football and cheer league. This league was the first of its kind in the country and is supported by USA football, the National Football League and the National Football League Players Associations. We have joined a league with several of the area’s top programs and our players are better for it. The decision to change leagues was not one that was taken lightly and after much deliberation and the full support of DCHS Head Football Coach, Mike Dimino, the decision was made to switch leagues. I am happy to announce that the decision to switch leagues was a HUGE success for our organization.  Not only did our enrollment increase but the quality of players from outside our school boundaries enrolled and played a big part in our success.  The culmination was that our Midget squad, who are the next generation of players for DCHS, won the SVUSA championship.  Our Midgets defeated a tough Granite Bay Grizzly team to win the inaugural SVUSA championships.

As your Athletic Director it is my honor to support you on any football related issues. I am always available to answer any questions or concerns you may have. In addition I have a very good relationship as well as the proxy of Coach Mike Dimino at DCHS. We are responsible for training the next generation of football players who will attend DCHS and it is imperative that we do everything we can to ensure that freshman players are as prepared as possible to compete when they enroll in HS to play football.

We look forward to another successful year of DC Jr. Cougar football.   Go Cougars!!!!!!!!

Warmest Regards,

Gary DiFabio

2012 PRESIDENT
MARY ANN KEY

Once again, I am looking forward to another season of DCJC Football and Cheer.  I am proud to say that I have been a part of this program for 7 years and two of my boys have moved on from DCJC to play for Del Campo High School.  I find great pride in that many of the young men on the field and the cheer squads on the sidelines of Del Campo High School were once a Jr. Cougar themselves.

It is the philosophies of the Jr. Cougar program to not only teach the mechanics of football and cheer, but to do our part to nurture and encourage the children within our program to be successful members of the community.

The move to the SVUSA league has proven to be a positive step for DCJC.  It has enhanced our program and facilitated growth .  As a true feeder program it is vital that our enrollment allows for  a more accurate representation of Del Campo High School's student body in the years to come.  Simply put, Del Campo High School is an "open enrollment" High School with the percentage of students open enrolling at approximately 70%.  It is DCJC's goal and desire to provide a strong and positive program to those wanting to be part of the Cougar family.

As an organization we pride ourselves on the partnerships with DCHS, its Football and Cheer programs, and USA Football.  All of which emphasize the importance of success both on and off the field.  We teach techinique, fundementals, and safety.  As an organization we encourage sportmanship, teamwork,  and discipline.  As a partner of DCHS and USA football
we are dedicated to our pursuit and purpose  of providing a quality program for the DC Cougar community.

Lastly, I am honored to work side by side with tremendous individuals who selflessly give their time to ensure that DCJC stays strong and continues with its tradition of training the next generation of Del Campo Cougars.

Win or lose... We play with pride.

Sincerely,

Mary Ann Key
